Same can be said of the pool where we saw a stunning sunset - Rooms were spacious, if basic. I would note that you could stay at a different hotel and still come do the Night Tour." "Pros - Great views from our room of the lake, mountains, and clouds. The Night Tour was excellent, a highlight. It worked okay but some people in my group had trouble getting a shuttle in a timely way. Due to the distance and incline of the roads, you call a shuttle to go anywhere, including to breakfast. There was a nice balcony in the room with striking views when the cloud cover allowed, but no furniture to sit on the balcony. They need at least one more coffee station separated from the main food line area or they need to have an employee walk around and refill coffee. That causes congestion and a long wait to refill your coffee in the middle of breakfast. There's only one coffee station in the middle of the food stations. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and quality food although it was very busy at times.

The room was clean and everything worked. You shouldn't have to wear earplugs to watch a video in your room.

I was so concerned about bothering other people that I didn't turn on the TV and watched a movie on my phone with my earplugs to prevent my neighbors from hearing any noise. That undoubtedly contributed to the noise. There was an open transom over the entry door and another over the bathtub opening to the inner hallway of the hotel. There's no climate control at all, not even the ability to open or close windows. I am a good sleeper, I can sleep on planes yet the loud snoring kept me awake. Someone's loud snoring woke me up repeatedly even though I used ear plugs. "I stayed for 2 nights and could not sleep because you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms. The hotel is great we especially liked the walking trail and relaxation area. You may also wish to bring your own toilet rolls since the hotel is clearly rationing them." "We had a really nice stay here. Slow service, ingredients missing, food cold when it arrived, multiple requests required for drinks etc etc.

The next morning - at a more leisurely time and much busier - was a different story. There is a limited breakfast choice but food was hot and tasty. For example, first morning breakfast - when we were early and the place was quiet - was great. Feels as though the hotel is understaffed. Otherwise there is a small covered pool with a bar though the chances of getting a drink are equivalent to seeing a sloth. Better suited for troglodytes than tourists. The room didn’t help - room 20 - small, dark and noisy. Other than that, we loved our stay here and I would definitely recommend this hotel." "Of all the places we have stayed in Costa Rica this was our least favourite. The food was ok, but not worth the high prices. The only negative I can think of is that the restaurant prices were really steep compared to other places in town. There's no breakfast buffet, you can choose from a couple of options, but they were also willing to make some changes or prepare something else for the kids. The swimming pool was covered, which was actually quite convenient during the rain (we were there during the rainy season). The staff was really friendly and knowledgable and they spoke English very well. My husband needed to store some medications in a cold place and they actually brought a small fridge to our room. Our room was large and clean and had all the facilities we needed. No airconditioning, but there are ceiling fans which is definitely enough. Our room was on the ground floor and opened up to the lovely garden. From the outside, it looks quite modern and a bit 'sterile', but inside it is wonderful.
